Masahiro Yasui

I have been fascinated by language and writing since childhood. I find it a great joy to discover new perspectives through learning new languages – a fascination I strive to pass on in my teaching. I have been teaching languages, especially Japanese, for over 20 years. I also work as an interpreter and hold the Großes Deutsches Sprachdiplom (Greater German Language Diploma).

I studied Comparative Literature and Philosophy in Kyoto, Tokyo, and Bonn (M.A.). During my studies at the University of Tokyo, I supervised international students in writing and correcting academic papers in Japanese. These early teaching experiences had a lasting impact on my interest in language teaching. As a graduate of the Japanese teaching qualification examination, which is officially recognized in Japan, I teach with professional rigor and cultural sensitivity.

My focus is on the learning goals and motivations of the participants. I strive to create a learning-friendly atmosphere in which everyone can learn with joy. In my classes, it's important to me not only to explain difficult points, but also to explore with the participants why they are often challenging for Japanese learners – thus leading them step by step to a better understanding. Social and cultural aspects of contemporary Japan are also incorporated to make the language a holistic experience.
